ART'S CAFÉ 1st BIRTHDAY BASH
EDEN PROJECT
Can it really be 12 months since Eden introduced the monthly Arts Café nights? The idea of
showcasing cool music with art and good food has grown from tentative beginnings into the
happening place on the first Friday of every month. The 1st Birthday Bash was rammed with
regular faces from the monthly gigs to first timers lured by the line-up of great musicians.
Jelly Jazz, the mainstay of Arts Café nights, filled the dance floor with their hot mix of soul,
latino, funk, jazz, you name it - they'll mix it up. Cornish 7 piece, The Underbelly, have
already kicked up a storming CV by performing at Ronnie Scott's, the Rio Carnival and
Glasters, whilst 6 Music's Craig Charles, quite rightly, raves about them. Eden party goers
fell for their high energy funk, calling for more long after the band had left the
building.
From the local to the international, next up came The Apples, with members from as far
afield as New York and Tel Aviv. What a coup for Eden! With 6 musos,2 turntable masters
and a monster mix man their get down and dirty phat sound rocked the room. This incredible
band are so at one with each other and the music that they re-invent their sound every night,
giving a fresh take on each arrangement during the gig.
